History

Formed on January 1st 2009, the Green Mountain Crawlers are the newest off-road club in Vermont. Geared towards both the neophyte off-roader and the expert alike, the GMC strives to provide a safe, fun and educational community for 4x4 enthusiasts from across the north country.

While our logo implies that we are a Jeep club any 4x4 is welcome. Stock through highly modified, all responsible 4x4 drivers are welcome here. GMC is an organization that promotes off-highway vehicle oriented outdoor recreation for all off-roading enthusiasts. Bi-monthly trips of varying levels of length and difficulty are planned for all members. Our activities are geared towards education and community building. During the winter months when trails are typically closed down, you will find us working on public education, fund raisers and the like.

GMC firmly follows the Tread Lightly principals and will be conducting "WITO" (Wheel In, Trash Out) activities on a regular basis to leave the areas in which we ride cleaner than when we got there. We do NOT advocate or support the typical "mud-running, beat your rig to death and destroy the environment" type of off-roading. GMC believes that trail conservation is of the highest priority and will work with local towns and landowners in an effort to maintain, and where able, to improve the condition of approved trails so that everyone from responsible off-roaders to hikers can continue to enjoy these trails.
